All consultations are by appointment and should be made at reception or by telephone during opening hours or online. Please book well in advance for routine appointments.  Antenatal, postnatal and surgical procedures need longer appointments.  Do ask the receptionist if you are uncertain.  Please wear loose clothing.  Please inform reception if you would like a chaperone.

Pre-bookable Appointments

You can book a non-urgent appointment up to 28 days in advance.

Same Day Appointments - please refer to home page NEWS FOR SELF CARE.

Each morning at 8.00am we release urgent on the day appointments for patients who have genuinely urgent medical conditions. We have up to 2 people answering the telephones at 8.00am and from 8.30am patients can also walk-in to request an urgent appointment for sometime that day at the Reception desk.  Please be patient with us.

You will be asked to give a brief description of your condition to ascertain the urgency of your request.  The reception team work from a guidance sheet that is created by the doctors.  Depending on the nature of your call you will be offered a face to face appointment with the Minor Illness Nurse or the Doctor or a telephone consultation with the Doctor.  Please note that urgent appointments are only with the duty doctor on the day.  The Doctors have duty rotas and cover in turn for urgent matters Monday to Friday.  When the Doctors are on duty cover they are not able to deal with routine matters.

For telephone consultations, all patients are advised to give an up to date landline or mobile telephone number so that the doctor can return your call this day.  Patients are advised to call as early as possible for urgent appointments only.  We will only try to contact you on the telephone number given 3 times in a day.  If you miss this call, please contact us.

Due to great demand on primary care on some occasions we have to re-direct patients to an alternative provision i.e. Colchester Walk-In-Centre or NHS111.

The staff may not always be able to offer you the exact time and date you wish for your routine appointment, but they will happily spend time to try and find something to suit your needs.  You will find them very approachable and they will gladly help to sort out your queries or worries and pass them to the Doctors if necessary.

We hold a branch surgery at the Village Hall in Great Tey most weeks, but this is for patients living in Great Tey only.  Please telephone the surgery on 01787 222022 for an appointment.

Please note, we do everything we can to assist you as soon as possible, but we are not an emergency service. If you have any condition that needs immediate medical treatment, please go straight to A & E or phone 999 for an ambulance.
